Water purification

The object of water treatment is to remove undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants, suspended solids and gases from contaminated water, and to make it suitable for human consumption (drinking water). It may also be designed for a variety of other purposes, including meeting the requirements of medical, pharmacological, chemical and industrial applications. 

Approximately one percent of the population of England and Wales receive their water from private water supplies. In most cases the water is drawn from a well, spring, river or lake, which means, it is unlikely to meet the standards set by Private Water Supplies Regulators. Therefore Caerfagu Products now offer a water analysis service to assess your drinking water, and (if needed) advise on treatment.

Water disinfection by UV light is the easiest and most cost effective option of treating water for households with their own drinking water supplies.

Basic principle of UV water purification

(1) Water enters the UV chamber and flows into an annular space between the quartz sleeve and the outside chamber wall (2). (3) The water is exposed to the UV light from the mercury germicidal lamp (4) disinfecting the micro-organisms and rendering it dead.
